The
Shannon Region is one of Ireland’s most scenic
areas and has a well-established tourist industry
and many leisure amenities. As a result, students
have the opportunity to enjoy an excellent social
life with music sessions, night clubs, theatre, and
cinema widely available in the region year round.
Shannon
College draws students from across the world and
the cultural evenings hosted by the students are
legendary. With ethnic cuisine and dancing featured
strongly, Shannon College students can easily boast
that they hold the best international parties in
town! In addition Limerick City, located 15 miles
from Shannon, is the third largest city in Ireland
and is a vibrant university city giving students
even more opportunities to relax and enjoy themselves
when they are not studying! |

As a peninsula county, Clare has an
abundance of sandy beaches, which contrast beautifully
with the upland areas and low lying mountainous areas
of the county. Shannon College itself overlooks the
Shannon Estuary, a body of water where Ireland’s
longest river, the river Shannon, enters the Atlantic
Ocean.
County Clare is bordered by four counties, Limerick
and Tipperary to the east, Galway to the north and
Kerry to the south. Therefore, students have many
opportunities to explore Ireland during their studies.
Travel to and from Shannon is very easy to arrange
both by private car and public transport and no stay
in County Clare is complete without at least one
trip to the Aran Islands situated off the coast of
Clare and Galway! |
