 Shannon
is located in the commercial heart of the Mid-West,
15 miles from Limerick City and 15 miles from Ennis
in County Clare. Selecting Shannon as the place to
establish Ireland’s leading hotel school has
proven to be an inspired choice. At the centre of one
of Ireland’s leading tourist destinations, Shannon
and the surrounding region has an impressive number
of hotels, castles, golf courses, leisure centres,
restaurants and tourist facilities, all of which require
top quality managers to run their establishments.
The
creation of the world’s first free trade
zone in Shannon has enabled County Clare and the Mid-West
region to prosper. Many leading multi-national companies
have established their European operations in Shannon
and Limerick. A new Information Technology Park is
also under construction in Ennis, making the Shannon
Region one of the most commercially diverse areas in
Ireland.
Shannon College boasts an international airport
on its doorstep, with daily flights to cities in Europe,
the USA, and Asia. It is also possible to fly from
Shannon to Dublin in Ireland, where onward flight connections
to many other destinations around the world are available.
Aside
from the neighbouring airport, Shannon has excellent
travel connections within the country. Trains between
Dublin and nearby Limerick and Ennis are available
on a daily basis as are inter city bus connections
that enable passengers to travel onwards from Shannon.
Car owners can take the primary N18 route if they wish
to travel to Shannon from Galway, Ennis or Limerick.
