NUI, Galway
Professional Placement 2 (10 months) Ireland, UK, Europe, USA, the Arabian Gulf or Asia

Students engage in intensive language training to prepare them for their professional placements overseas. Students whose mother tongue is English pursue either French, German or Spanish as their continental language. All other students study English. Students wishing to pursue French as a language option are required to attain a minimum of B3 at Ordinary Level in the Leaving Certificate. Shannon College actively encourages students to develop their linguistic skills as the ability to speak more than one language is a real advantage to any business graduate.

The progress of each student is closely monitored throughout the duration of his or her studies. This support is particularly visible while students are on professional placement. Faculty members visit students on placement to ensure that they are satisfied with their working environment and that they are developing real competence in international hotel management.

Upon successful completion of their studies, graduates are awarded a Bachelor of Commerce Degree combined with an NUI Diploma in Management – International Hospitality Management by the National University of Ireland. At this stage, graduates can choose to work in a management capacity in industry or pursue postgraduate studies at University.
