60th Anniversary Celebration
The students, staff and management at Shannon College of Hotel Management would like to thank all the guests who travelled from around the country (and a few from overseas!) to attend our 60th Anniversary Celebration on the 20th of May. The event was a celebration of the successes of students and alumni since 1951 and their contribution to the Irish and international hospitality industry. The event was also an opportunity for us to thank our regional, industry, alumni and education partners for their important role in the continued success of Shannon College, Ireland’s only dedicated hotel college.
See some themes and photos from our celebration below. If you attended the event and are looking for a particular photo for your collection, please don’t hesitate to contact us (sarahgeraghty@shannoncollege.com).
Regards,
Shannon College Team
Student Volunteers

Above: Stephen Quinn, Emer Tuohy and Ciaran Burns (Year 1 students) volunteer to serve at event.
Over 30 students from Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 were delighted to be involved in the event and gave up their free time to set up last Thursday and to serve at the event on Friday. It was a great opportunity for these young students to meet graduates from years gone by and hear of their successes and achievements since graduating from the college. The management and staff of Shannon College would like to sincerely thank our student volunteers for their time, hard work, professionalism and enthusiasm last week. Enjoy the summer!
100% Employment on Graduation Day

Grainne Holland, Brian Webster and Dave O’Keefe (Year 4 Students)
A key theme of this year’s celebration is the College’s success in maintaining a 100% employment record on graduation day each year. Shannon College is probably the only third level institution in the Ireland with such a record and it is testament to the calibre of students and the quality of the education received at Shannon. It might also have something to do with the dedication of the team in the Work Placement Office; Ms. Deborah O’Hanlon (Placement Manager) and Ms. Elaine Giltinane!
Farewell to the Class of 2007

Niamh Cusack (Year 4), Liam Griffin (Class Patron) and Laura Nolan (Year 4)
The event was also a farewell to the Class of 2007 who have just finished their academic studies and are about to embark on their final year trainee management internship. The sixty students attended the event as guests and were joined by their Class Patron and Keynote Speaker, Mr. Liam Griffin, Managing Director, Griffin Group. Liam Griffin, who addressed the 250 guests with an inspiring and uplifting keynote speech, is also a graduate from Shannon College, graduating with the class of 1970.
