Ready, Steady, Cook
At a recent Open Evening two students competed with the help of visiting parents in a Ready, Steady, Cook competition. There was a big turnout for the Open Evening, where students and parents had an opportunity to view the facilities and meet students who are back from their work placements. Two parents assisted Martin Gordon and Diarmuid Connolly (Year 4 students) in a Ready, Steady, Cook competition.
Martin and Diarmuid won a bronze medal at the Catex Cook and Serve competition this year at the RDS, where they competed against industry professionals and other colleges. Practical training in the kitchen, restaurant, IT, food science and accommodation is undertaken in Year 1 of Shannon College’s degrees. Students have opportunities throughout their degree; open evenings, graduations etc; to showcase their practical skills and expertise.
Shannon College will hold an open evening again in the spring. Details will be announced in the New Year.
