Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference

was hosted by Shannon College of Hotel Management on June 15th and 16th, 2010

“Current Challenges and Future Opportunities”

THRIC 2010, the 6th annual ‘Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference’ took place this week for the first time in the Midwest region of Ireland. Shannon College of Hotel Management hosted the conference which attracted researchers and academics in the fields of tourism and hospitality from around Ireland and abroad. The two day conference blended the best of Irish and international research with keynote speeches from Mr. Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman of Jumeirah International, Dubai and Dr. Des O’Mahony, Founder and Chief Executive of Bookassist.

Other keynote speakers included Mr. Brian O’Connell, Chairman, and Mr. Michael Vaughan, Tourism Pillar Facilitator of Ireland’s Atlantic Way. The second day of the conference featured a conference call discussion with Prof. Abraham Pizam, Dean and Chair in Tourism Management, University of Central Florida, and the conference was formally closed by Prof. William Golden, Dean, College of Business, Public Policy and Law, NUI Galway.
